May 29, 2012 – ROAMWORKS UAE INTEGRATES DUBAI’S SALIK ELECTRONIC TOLL REPORTING WITH ROAM’S VEHICLE TRACKING APPLICATION
DUBAI, UAE – May 29, 2012 – ROAMWORKS UAE has recently integrated SALIK Report, a reporting mechanism that captures detailed SALIK charge for every asset in a period of time.
SALIK is Dubai RTA’s electronic highway toll collection system that automates toll payments for every vehicle owner that operates in Dubai. The SALIK system currently operates six different SALIK gates. SALIK applies different conditions for determining the relevant charges:
• The default charge is AED 4 every time an vehicle passes through a SALIK gate.
• If the asset passes through Al Makhtoum Gate between 10 PM and 6 AM, it is not charged.
• If the asset passes through Al Safa and Al Barsha gates in one direction in less than one hour then the asset is not charged at the second gate.
• If the total charge for an asset during one day reaches AED 24, then all subsequent gates are free during the same day for that asset.
Since SALIK information is not open to ROAMWORKS systems, the task was to accurately predict the total SALIK charge for every vehicle managed by ROAMWORKS.
To that end, ROAMWORKS engineers implemented an intelligent solution to provide an accurate SALIK report based on the known toll charge rules and asset locations within a specified period.
As a result, a detailed report can be constructed, showing specific time an asset passes through a SALIK gate and the toll charge for each gate. ROAMWORKS customers will be aware of the operational costs of their assets from SALIK, and can further improve their asset management by planning a more efficient route and better estimate their budget allocation for SALIK.
